Alison & Tim [Barbican, London] Vintage modern.

FEATURED ON ROCK N ROLL BRIDE!

2011 got under way with an amazing day in the conservatory at the Barbican with Alison and Tim. It was a cool mixture of vintage and modern with Alison’s Peter Langner dress, Jane Taylor pill-box hat and Emmy shoes. Groom, Tim, and best man were both kitted out in classic Cording’s green tweed suits. The Barbican is one of London’s most iconic arts centres with its bold 1960s architecture providing some great locations for funky wedding photography. The venue for the wedding service was the palm conservatory at the top of the Barbican. It’s an incredible space in the middle of London with it’s palm trees, ferns and running water. You can even hear occasional bird song from the exotic birds that it houses.

After the service we headed fruther in to the palm house for portraits of Alison and Tim as we wanted to capture the unique atmosphere of the venue. It’s not every day that feel like you’re in the depths of an exotic jungle in the middle of London! From there we headed out onto the sky walkways around the Barbican to get some cool shots using the strong lines and geometry of the architecture. We loved the blue lighting under one of the walkways and set up a few shots which couldn’t have been more of a contrast from the conservatory.

The reception took place in the garden room with a stunning backdrop of the conservatory on one side and the illuminated tower blocks of the Barbican on the other. The whole place oozed cool, from the low level lighting to the jazz quartet providing chilled sounds.
